Hu leaves Vietnam for Laos visit

HANOI -- Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Central Committee of the
Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese president, left here Sunday
for a visit to Laos, after visiting Vietnam and attending the 14th APEC
(Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Economic Leaders' Meeting here.
During his stay in Vietnam, Hu paid a state visit to the country as a
guest of general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist
Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nong Duc Manh and Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh
Triet, and they exchanged in-depth views on further promoting bilateral
ties.
The two sides signed a number of cooperation documents covering
economy,trade, human resources, health and quarantine during the visit.
Hu also attended the 14th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (AELM) from
November 17 to 19 in Hanoi.
Besides, Hu met respectively with leaders of some APEC member economies
on the sidelines of the AELM and they exchanged views on bilateral
relations and other international and regional issues of common concern.
Vietnam was the first leg of Hu's current four-nation Asia tour, which
will also take him to India and Pakistan besides Laos.
